Shiv Nadar’s establishment of HCL Technologies in the IT firm has made him one of the India’s richest people with a net worth of $12.5 Billion.
He is also the Executive Board member of the Indian School of Business and works with Public Health Foundation of India to create institutes of public health.He started his career at Walchand group’s Cooper Engineering in the year 1967. With the help of his friends and colleagues he started his own venture. With his intelligence he has made HCL reach its IT global services in Top 20 of largest publicly traded companies. It made its way to the Forbes Global 2000 list and termed him as the largest shareholder. In 1980, HCL ventured into the international market with the opening of Far East Computers in Singapore to sell IT hardware. He opened SSN College of Engineering, named after his father Sri Siva subramaniya Nadar is ranked in India’s top fifteen colleges.
Nadar was born in 1945 in Moolaipozhi village in Tiruchendur. He was born to Sri Siva subramaniya Nadar-Vamasundari Devi and he is also the nephew of S. P. Adithanar who is the founder of Dina Thanthi newspaper. He is also the brother of famous Tamil novelist Ramanichandran.He did his Higher Secondary in Kumbakonam. He completed his Pre-University degree in the American College in Madurai and Electrical and Electronics Engineering from PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore. He opened a Museum of Art on the name of his wife KiranNadar in New Delhi.
He always feels ‘education empowers individuals’. Since mid of 1990s has focused his efforts in developing the educational system of India through the Shiv Nadar Foundation. For this he has contributed 10% of his wealth for the sake of welfare of educational ventures. To make his vision true he has founded ‘Shiv Nadar Foundation’ which primarily focuses on educational spectrum. He joined the Executive Board of Indian School of Business in 2005. In 2008, he opened two Vidyagyan schools in UP for rural areas where free scholarship will be provided for 200 students from 50 districts of Uttar Pradesh. To be a part of world class education he has come up with iconic educational institutions. This foundation also runs VidyaGyan schools with free of cost education in the rural areas. He completely focused on free residential schools. Forbes Magazine featured him in its list of 48 Heroes of Philanthropy in the Asia Pacific region.

The University of Madras and IIT Kharagpur awarded him an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Science for his outstanding contribution to IT in India.
