The group headed by Gautam Adani, the richest Indian, announced the opening of its hyperscale data centre in Chennai on Friday in an effort to establish a presence in one of the data centre markets that is growing the fastest in the world.

In a statement, AdaniConneX, a partnership between Adani Enterprises and EdgeConneX, announced the opening of the “Chennai 1” hyperscale data centre campus, which is powered by renewable energy.According to the statement, “In Phase 1, the campus offers 17 MW (IT Load), which scales up to 33 MW (IT Load) at full capacity.

One of the areas targeted for expansion by the ports-to-energy Adani group is data centres. Airports, cement, petrochemicals, and copper are some other examples.

Tamil Nadu’s first pre-certified IGBC Platinum Rated data centre is located on the “Chennai 1” campus.

Additionally, the facility will be powered by up to 100% renewable energy, giving businesses and hyperscale clients sustainable energy options.The statement read, “Chennai 1 is intended to offer robust extra security to IT Infrastructure with seven layers of security system and commitment to provide 99.999 percent availability. It is one of the most advanced colocation campuses in the region.

One of the biggest private data centre operators is EdgeConneX.

“In India, data generation and consumption are expanding rapidly, necessitating the development of a sustainable, automated, and reliable digital infrastructure. Our goal with our pan-India data centre platform is to facilitate the next stage of digital development in India with a primary focus on sustainability and energy management “said AdaniConneX CEO Jeyakumar Janakaraj.
