Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani, 65, spent US$243 million on two opulent houses in Dubai over the course of just two months, shattering local real estate records.
In a private transaction, Ambani acquired the beachfront property two weeks ago. According to NDTV, the previous owner was Kuwaiti tycoon Mohammed Alshaya, who requested confidentiality over the sale.
The property purchase on the Palm Jumeirah, worth US$163 million, was only made public after the Dubai Land Department notified it. Although it withheld the buyer’s identity, Ambani has been identified as the purchase by a number of outlets.
