Early life:

In the Andhra Pradesh district of Chittoor, in the little village of Petamitta, Dr. R. N. Galla was born. Up until the fifth standard, he attended an elementary school. Later, he walked seven miles every day for secondary school. But, there were few resources, few opportunities, and little advice or help in this challenging climate.

But he learned the value of tenacity throughout these trying formative years. Young Galla soon understood that he might make history for his community by being the first student to leave school and pursue higher education. Even in his professional life, the early strategy of viewing difficulty as an opportunity to accomplish a goal became Dr. Galla’s go-to strategy.

Some of Dr. Galla’s journeys may be seen as organisations in Amara Raja’s journey. His modest beginnings in a family of farmers gave him many priceless lessons. Midway through the 1980s, Dr. Galla returned to his agricultural roots in Andhra Pradesh and established two organisations. First, with little funding and few employees, Amara Raja Power Systems Ltd. ultimately became Amara Raja Batteries.

The Amara Raja Group now includes businesses that produce lead-acid batteries (AMARON), sheet metal goods, precision components, plastic moulding, electronic manufacturing services, infrastructure development, industrial services, food processing, and media and entertainment. In many aspects, Amara Raja Batteries Ltd. (ARBL) became a pioneer, establishing a dominant position in the Indian battery market and becoming a well-known energy and mobility business. Dr. Galla created an institution prepared to change directions and broaden its horizons by laying the ideal basis for Amara Raja. As a result, the Amara Raja Group has grown into a big corporation that affects millions of people’s lives.

A Life of Selflessness and Values

According to Dr. Galla, an organisation’s culture is reflected in its employees’ beliefs and values, which manifest in daily behaviour. The Amara Raja Way is a guiding philosophy for all staff members based on this conviction. The five guiding principles of The Amara Raja Way are innovation, excellence, entrepreneurship, experiences, and responsibility. The company logo represents the five elements of space, wind, fire, water, and earth.

Dr. Galla guided the expansion of Amara Raja through collaborations with top international organisations through innovative engineering, research, and design. By creating and manufacturing goods that are globally competitive, customer-focused, and of the highest calibre while responsibly launching them into relevant markets, he is dedicated to the newest generation of technology.

Dr. Galla, a fervent proponent of giving back to society, founded the Rajanna Trust, which promotes education, skill development, rural development, health, and water management. The Trust works to guarantee that rural households participate fairly and equally in national development. It encourages non-migratory living in the area and fosters inclusive growth by creating more lavish amenities for rural residents.

Dr. Galla has been dedicated to social causes throughout his life in three key areas: village development and infrastructure, education and skill development, and the environment. As a result, he has started numerous efforts in these fields. Construction of roads, rainwater storage tanks, modern communication infrastructure, and various other programs and activities are only a few of the village’s development endeavours. Aside from related development activities, two schools, a college, and a skill development centre have been built to offer children and adults from nearby communities superior education and skill development. Due to Dr. Galla’s dedication to the environment, countless social forestry initiatives, green belt development, water harvesting techniques, and energy conservation measures are a few examples.
